- The bars of rectangular shape are always drawn vertically or horizontally.
- The length and width or breadth of the rectangular shapes must be equal and have some suitable space in order to distinguish the numbers and ranges.
- The bars of the bar graph must be always situated in the same common base. This base can be represented with the help of the number 0.
- The height of the bar must be exactly the same present in the data. You can only change the units. For example, you can write 1 cm = 10 km.

Histogram and Its Properties
The graph which can be defined as the graphical representation of the groups and data where every range is corresponding to the vertical bar is the histogram. The axis which is horizontally placed in the graph is defined as the horizontal axis which basically represents the range of numbers. Similarly, the axis which is vertically placed in the graph is defined as the vertical axis which signifies the quantity of the data which is present in each data.
Usually, the horizontal axis is known as X-axis and the vertical axis is represented by the letter ‘Y’. Some examples of this representation are as follows: 60 – 75 , 70 – 75, 80 – 85, 85 – 90. These numbers are known as the ranges whereas numbers like 3, 5, 6, 8 represent the number or frequency.
